Bishkek is a city of wide boulevards and marble-faced public buildings combined with numerous Soviet-style apartment blocks surrounding interior courtyards. There are also thousands of smaller privately built houses, mostly outside the city centre. Streets follow a grid pattern, with most flanked on both sides by narrow irrigation channels, watering innumerable trees to provide shade in the hot summers.


I.K. Akhunbaev Kyrgyz State Medical Academy (KSMA) is a leading higher medical institution of the Kyrgyz Republic with more than 75 years of history. All these years the flagship of medical education in Kyrgyzstan underwent a glorious path of development. Today, our Academy is one of the leading medical universities in Central Asia, having perfect reputation in the training of highly qualified doctors. We are well known in many countries of the world through scientific and practical achievements of our graduates working in almost all corners of the globe.

The main purpose of the training of specialists is implementation of practical health care through training that is focused on providing of quality services by general practitioners and promotion of them in regions.   There are 600 highly qualified faculty members, including 7 Academicians of National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic (NAS KR), 4 Corresponding Members of NAS KR, 55 Doctors of Sciences and 215 PhD (Candidates of Sciences) at KSMA.


I.K. Akhunbaev Kyrgyz State Medical Academy (KSMA) has more than 6000 students from Kyrgyzstan and 19 foreign countries. Education is conducted in Kyrgyz, Russian and English.

KSMA and the Geneva University Hospitals (HUG) and the University of Geneva - Faculty of Medicine covers © not only the pre-graduate medical education reform but also the post-graduate and continuing medical oO education. Joint education and training programs, research projects are being established.

In 2016 I.K. Akhunbaev Kyrgyz State Medical Academy (KSMA) signed an additional agreement with Gansu University of Chinese Medicine (PRC) on postgraduate training of 15 KSMA graduates in Gansu CM University in the specialty “Traditional Chinese Medicine`` on a grant basis with duration of 3 years.


KSMA has 5 Years of course with fully English Medium instructions.

KSMA has one Body “Preserve Scientific Lab” among the three in the World.

For practical KSMA has collaboration with Government Multi-Specialty Hospital.
